How to Clear Sinuses Acupressure Points?
There are several ways to clear your sinuses using acupressure points. One way is to use your thumb and index finger to press on the issues on either side of your nose, just below the inner corners of your eyes.
You can also use your thumb and middle finger to press on the points on either side of your nose just below the corners of your eyes. In either case, hold these points for 1 to 2 minutes, and repeat as often as necessary to clear nasal congestion.
The point on the side of each nostril where it meets with the bridge of your nose can also be pressed for between 30 seconds and 1 minute to help clear your sinuses. You can also use a ballpoint pen to insist on these points if your fingers are unavailable.
Finally, the point on the top of your head, in the center, just above your eyebrows, can be pressed to help clear your sinuses. This point should be encouraged for 30 seconds to 1 minute and repeated as often as necessary.
These acupressure points can be pressed at any time to help clear your sinuses. If you experience sinus pressure headaches, pressing the acupressure points on either side of your nose will also help relieve that headache pain.
Hot Compress for Sinus Pain Relief:
You can also use acupressure to help clear your sinuses by using a hot compress. To do this, heat an organic oil such as almond or coconut in a pot and then soak a cloth in the oil. After removing the fabric from the pot, wring it out and hold it against your face, covering both eyes and nose.
Breathe in the fumes of the hot oil for around 10 minutes, which will help clear your sinuses.
This method should only be used when the weather is fantastic, as you don’t want to burn your face! Instead of using a hot compress, you can also use a warm compress. Soak a towel in a mixture of boiling water and sea salt, wring out the excess water, and then hold it against your face for around 10 minutes.
Warm compresses work just as well as hot compresses at clearing sinuses, so either can help alleviate congestion in your nose or sinus pressure headaches.
How to Clear Nasal Congestion?
The last way to use acupressure points on yourself to clear nasal congestion is by applying lemon balm essential oil to closed nostrils.
If you have pure lemon balm essential oil (not lemon balm-scented), you can apply a few drops to your fingers and gently rub them around the insides of your nostrils. Not only will the scent of lemon balm help clear your sinuses, but applying it to your nose in this way will also help clear congestion.
If you don’t have any pure lemon balm essential oil, simply smelling some fresh-cut lemons can also help open up your blocked nasal passages. Lemon is perfect for helping people with sinus problems because it helps thin out mucus while killing off bacteria or viruses that may be causing infection in or around your nose.
Beneficial Tea to Clear Nasal Congestion:
Throat Coat tea is another excellent option for quickly clearing nasal congestion. It contains marshmallow root, licorice root, and slippery elm bark, which help coat your throat and provide relief from a scratchy or sore throat. These also work well for clearing sinuses by coating the inside of your nose with a thin layer of natural gel.
To make Throat Coat tea, steep aapproximately1/2 teaspoon of these herbs in a small cup of boiling water for minutes. Then, strain out the herbal matter and drink the liquid while it is warm. If you don’t like the flavor of licorice, add some lemon juice to your tea to mask it. You can repeat this process as often as necessary until you start to breathe more easily and your nasal congestion clears.
If you cannot find Throat Coat tea at your local health food store, you can also use a mixture of slippery elm bark and marshmallow root, boiled in water for approximately 10 minutes.
You can prepare 2-3 cups of this herbal decoction at once. Let it cool to room temperature, then strain out the herbs. Refrigerate any unused portion immediately and reheat as needed.
This process works because slippery elm bark has a higher mucilage content that coats irritated or inflamed areas inside your throat or sinuses. At the same time, marshmallow root forms a protective layer over these membranes, helping them heal faster.
Slippery elm is also very effective in soothing a sore throat because it coats the throat and relieves the scratchy or painful sensation.
Finally, slippery elm bark contains healthy compounds called “mannans,” which boost the immune system by activating specific cells to fight infections and diseases more rapidly.
In addition to these methods, you can create a homemade saline solution as a natural way to ease congestion, relieve sinus pressure, and alleviate headache pain.
Mix 1/2 teaspoon of salt with 4 cups of water, and then apply a Neti pot or nasal spray bottle inside each nostril.
