Acupressure Points for Sinus Relief of Congestion
When the seasons change, a lot of us get hay fever and blocked sinuses, and we want it gone fast. Pressing an acupressure point for the sinuses can relieve congestion in just a few minutes, without pills or a painful sinus rinse.

In the Orient, sinus pressure points have been used for centuries. Certain points on your skin are sensitive to bioelectric pulses, and without these electric networks in our body, our organs do not function.
Stimulating these reflexology points with heat or pressure triggers the release of endorphins, known as neurotransmitters, which help relieve pain, reduce tension, and promote healing. You do need to know which points to use first. That’s what gets you the sinus relief, and a natural way to relieve congestion.

What is Sinus Congestion?
When mucus builds up in your sinuses and starts stagnating, you feel pressure. It keeps building, causing sinus pain and infection. The best way to deal with both is to work out what’s causing the problem. It can be related to the following:
- Certain foods you eat that are spicy
- Smoking
- Dust
- Allergies related to pets, medication, milk, food, and more
- Cold temperatures
- Influenza
Any of these can cause congestion and lead to sinus problems, and make it hard to breathe. In many cases, taking medication could worsen these conditions.
Pressing the specific acupressure points for sinus relief covered here helps ease that pressure in the nasal area without the need for medication.

Acupressure Points for Sinus Relief:
Here are the acupressure points for sinus relief I use, and a few simple ways to relieve congestion:
The Drilling Bamboo:

Congestion hits hardest around the bridge of the nose, close to the eye sockets, so a nose rub on the Drilling Bamboo point is the most effective treatment here. You’ll find it in the groove of the inner eye socket, where the bridge of the nose meets the eyebrow ridge. Use the tips of your thumbs and press both areas near your eye sockets for 5 minutes.
You can work these points one at a time if you prefer, but pressing them together applies more pressure and clears mucus quickly. These pressure points can relieve headaches, blurry vision, eyestrain, sinus pain, hay fever, and red, watery eyes.
Joining the Valley Pressure Point:

If you’re pregnant, avoid this acupressure point for sinus problems, as it could cause premature contractions in the uterus. The Joining the Valley point is in the webbing between your index finger and thumb.
You’ll find it at the highest point of the muscle when you bring your thumb and index finger together. Hold it and apply firm pressure for 2 minutes. It helps reduce pain in the nose and relieve symptoms such as sinus pain, hay fever, head congestion, and headaches.

Welcoming Perfume Pressure Point:

The Welcoming Perfume pressure point is often used in acupuncture to help relieve sinus congestion, sinus pain, facial paralysis, and facial swelling. These reflexology points sit just to the side of your nostrils. Press both points for at least 4 minutes and repeat the process several times for the best results. Done correctly, it flushes out any blockage, giving you unrestricted airflow and making breathing easier.
The Heavenly Pillar:

The Heavenly Pillar is on the back of your head, where the head and neck join. There’s a wide hollow there, and that’s where you press. Place your middle finger on this pressure point for 4 minutes. You’ll notice the congestion in your nose start to shift. It also helps reduce sinus congestion, mental stress, and headaches.
Facial Beauty Acupressure Point:

Pair this one with the Welcoming Perfume point and press both at the same time. The Facial Beauty acupressure point is another good sinus relief point. You’ll find it at the bottom of the cheekbone, directly below the pupil.
Apply pressure to these points for 4 minutes, and repeat the process a couple of times. It’s good for toothaches, eye tiredness, burning eyes, head congestion, and a stuffy nose.
One Hundred Meeting & Penetrate Heaven:

These two acupressure points sit very close to each other. The One Hundred Meeting point is on the crown of your head. Find it by following a line upwards from the back of your ears to the top. The Penetrate Heaven is on top of the skull, moving upward from the back of your ears and using the width of your thumb.
You can press and massage them at the same time to relieve sinus congestion, headaches, poor concentration, a weak sense of smell, and a stuffy nose.
The Collar Bone Pressure Point:

Place your middle finger in the hollow below the collarbone, above the upper breastbone. Apply pressure at this point for 5 minutes. This helps prevent sinus infections and boosts the immune system.
The Third Eye Point:

You’ll probably know this one. The Third Eye Point sits right between the eyebrows, where the bridge of your nose meets your forehead. Applying pressure here helps relieve sinus congestion, eye strain, and headaches. Press firmly for at least 1 – 2 minutes and repeat with 2-minute intervals.
Acupressure Can Make a Difference:
If you use these acupressure points for sinus difficulties correctly, you could prevent bacteria from entering the body. Drink plenty of fluids until your sinus symptoms are gone. Lots of water, herbal teas, and soups help build your immune system, and with these pressure points you can rid yourself of sinus problems in no time!
